About the show
A simple
question
“A high-octane remix of identity, rhythm, and belonging.”
During a school lesson on the Civil Rights Movement, a young Latino/a asks a simple question: “Where did we sit on the bus?” The teacher doesn't have an answer. What follows is a high-energy, soul-searching, and theatrical tour de force.
Directed by The Studio Artist-in-Residence Alexa Pérez, this dynamic production uses live-looped hip-hop beats, spoken word, and vibrant storytelling to explore what it means to be Latiné in America. It is a rhythmic, funny, and deeply poignant quest for identity that will leave your heart racing.
About the experience
Beats built
in the room
Every sound you hear is made live. Loops are layered in front of you — voice, beatbox, keys — so the score is built and rebuilt in real time. Expect direct address, an intimate house, and an audience that's part of the room rather than hidden behind a fourth wall.
Runtime is roughly 90 minutes with no intermission. The show contains amplified music and some strong language; best for ages 13 and up. The Studio is a wheelchair accessible venue with seating held for accessibility needs — email the venue ahead of your visit and they'll take care of it.
