The Pink Unicorn follows Trisha Lee, a Christian widow doing her best to hold her small Texas world together when her child comes out as genderqueer and starts a Gay-Straight Alliance at school. The town erupts. Her church revolts. Her family fractures. And Trisha? She has to decide what love really means when it costs you something.
Told with biting humor, southern warmth, and startling vulnerability, this story is a hand-extended in the dark — asking us to walk beside someone we may not fully understand yet.
And in living rooms, community spaces, and neighborhood hubs, the play transforms. Instead of sitting in rows, you’re just a few feet from Trisha as she unravels, rebuilds, and ultimately discovers a fiercer version of love than she imagined possible.
Expect an evening that feels part confession, part kitchen-table storytelling, part revival of the human spirit.
Why We’re Performing in Homes
Because this story is about family.
About real conversations between real people.
About trying, failing, apologizing, and trying again.
In a home, those truths hit differently.
Here, walls come down.
Here, the story becomes yours too.
What to Expect
An immersive, one-woman show performed just a few feet from you
A powerful, funny, deeply human story drawn directly from the script’s text

Pricing
There are two ticket types: General Admission and True Cost Ticket. General Admission is your regular ticket price. True Cost Ticket is what the price of the ticket would be if Story Keepers was setting the ticket price at a level that the ticket covered the expense of the show. If you feel inclined to pay the extra it will go towards making sure we can do more accessible programming.
What to wear
At the theatre, we embrace the idea of "come as you are." Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and confident—whether that's casual or dressed up, it's all about enjoying the show in your own style.

Avery Anderson is the founding co-programming chair of Story Keepers, a new Tampa Bay–based theatre company dedicated to bold, intimate, site-specific storytelling. Their work centers queer voices, new plays, and theatre that meets audiences where they already are — in living rooms, community spaces, and unexpected corners of the city.
A director, arts journalist, and development strategist, Avery has collaborated with organizations across Tampa Bay, including American Stage, The Studio@620, Powerstories Theatre, freeFall Theatre, and more. Their work on Tampa Bay Arts Passport has made them one of the region’s most active cultural storytellers, spotlighting the artists, ideas, and neighborhoods shaping the local arts scene.
The Pink Unicorn marks Story Keepers’ first full production — and Avery’s latest step in building a theatre company rooted in access, courage, and community. They are passionate about lifting up new work, nurturing artists, and creating theatrical experiences that feel personal, immediate, and profoundly human.
